If you've got some GCSEs/Standards you can get into the industry through a craft or technical career.

Craft
Most people enter craft careers through apprenticeships, although other types of training schemes are available in England and Wales. Craft trainees develop skills using their hands and specialist equipment whilst learning about construction materials and production methods. They also have the chance to take qualifications that can progress them into technical, supervisory or management occupations, or even running their own business.

Technical
To train in a technical occupation, you'll need four good GCSE's (Standard Grades in English, Maths or a Science at Level 3 or above in Scotland) as well as A-Levels/Intermediates, Highers or equivalent vocational qualifications. Technicians are valuable members of the construction team who support the work of engineers, architects, quantity surveyors.

There are two main options: either you can work and go to college part-time through an apprenticeship, or you can get full-time college qualifications before joining the industry. Once you are working, you'll have the opportunity to complete further vocational and professional qualifications and move to supervisory or management roles.
