What is an apprenticeship?
The Construction Apprenticeship Scheme (CAS) is a two year programme to NVQ/SVQ level 2, then a further one year advanced programme to achieve NVQ/SVQ or the Construction Diploma level 3 which is run for people aged 16+. To apply entrants have to have found an employer that will sponsor them to complete an apprenticeship. You will also have to sit an assessment. Why not prepare for your assessment by downloading our Skills Learning Exercise (SLE) practice test booklet
This enables you to achieve a Construction Award (for craft entrants) or a National Certificate (for technical entrants). You will gain an NVQ/SVQ while you work. Contact your teacher, careers advisor or your local ConstructionSkills office for details about opportunities in your area and local employer vacancies.
As a trainee you might be given the opportunity to participate in Britains largest trade competition, SkillBuild.
