Young Apprenticeship in Construction
A Young Apprenticeship in Construction for 14 to 16 year olds is a new programme to help you combine school with practical skills and experience in the construction industry.
By choosing a Young Apprenticeship you would divide your time between school, college and the workplace over two years. You'll see and do new things, and gain experience of real work in construction as well as studying for qualifications.
This is a great chance for you to pursue a course which will interest you and to:
• Have a more practical style of learning outside of school
• See the relevance of your education to the world of work
• Broaden your career opportunities
You'll be spending time out of school, learning about the construction industry both in the workplace and with a college or training provider as well. You’ll be spending an average of two days a week at a college or training provider and also with construction companies. At the end of the programme you should achieve a nationally recognised vocational qualification at level 2 which is the same level as GCSE grades A* to C.
As well as working towards a Young Apprenticeship you will continue to study the core National Curriculum subjects including English, Mathematics, ICT and Science. Talk to your teachers to find out more.
