Which company do you work for?
I work for Pegasus Fire Protection - they're a company that's
based in Edinburgh - we build partition walls and do suspended
ceilings.
What are the good bits about your job?
One of the things I love about my job is that you can always be
in different locations and you're always doing different things,
you're not stuck in a boring 9 to 5 job and you're always going to
meet different people.
Why did you choose this career?
I was involved in another side of construction, the electrical
side, and I spoke to the people on this side who do partitions and
internal work and I liked the look of it so I contacted the company
and luckily I got a start. That was two years ago now so I've been
doing quite well.
What do you do day-to-day?
I go to work and we set up all our tools and equipment, then
we'll decide what we're doing for the day and set out our
materials, then we'll build whatever has been set for us in the day
and hopefully exceed those expectations.
What's the coolest thing you've done so
far?
One of the things I'm proud of is that I worked on a project in
Glasgow, Stobhill Hospital, and it actually received a Design Award
from Scottish Construction so it was good to know that the work
that we produced contributed to winning the award because it was
for the design and interiors of the hospital.
What would you say to anyone who wanted to try
this?
I would encourage anybody who wanted to get into this job to go
for it because you can make a really good living out of it and also
you can see a finished product that you're leaving for the future
of the country.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I would like to see myself being a really good earner doing what
I do. I would hopefully move into a management position, hopefully
with the company I'm in.
