Why did you choose this career?
I chose this apprenticeship because it's the ideal next step in
my career. I only recently got into it. I was working with a
construction company beforehand and I got offered the chance to
move up into this position, so I took the opportunity.
What do you do day-to-day?
We work in a team of four to six workers, with different people
working on a variety of jobs every day. You learn different things
from the skilled people around you and build up your knowledge.
What are the good bits about your job?
What I really like about my apprenticeship is all the different
aspects of the job, particularly the outdoor work. I also like
coming in to work and making new friends every day.
What would you say to anyone who wanted to try
this?
If anyone was thinking about joining the apprenticeship scheme I
would advise them to do so. It's a very good way to work and learn
and it moves you on in your career and has very good
opportunities.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I'm not sure where I'll be, but the last seven months has made
me realise that I would like to be working outside in a team and
doing something relating to construction.
