Construction is a fast-moving industry. We'll keep you informed of all the latest from the world of construction.

Want to continue in education and do something practical?

Well now you can with a Programme Led Apprenticeship.

With hundreds of opportunities in a rapidly growing industry, a PLA gives you the edge to get qualified, get noticed and get ahead.

PLA's are a different way to complete an Apprenticeship, currently they have been piloted for Brickwork, Carpentry and Joinery and Painting and Decorating – however ConstructionSkills is now looking to broaden the scheme.

The difference between a PLA and an Apprenticeship is that instead of juggling work and college, you would enrole on a full time ICA course at your local college in your chosen trade. Where you complete your ICA, pass a Health & Safety Test and gain Key Skills Level 1 in Maths and English if you didn’t get A to C grades at GCSE.

And to then complete your Apprenticeship framework you can then apply to be placed with an Employer though ConstructionSkills to complete the required period of work experience.

We're only able to match up the most committed and enthusiastic students with these job opportunities, so the scheme requires a desire to work on site to gain the practical experience in your chosen trade.
