What do you do day-to-day?
On a daily basis I assist our project manager with his tasks which helps me learn a great deal. Also as I am studying one day a week at university, I enjoy going out on site and watching the building progress as it makes what I learn much easier to understand if I can actually see the process in action.

What's it like working in a man's world?
It's great! I think that the men on site give you a great deal of respect for being confident in that environment

Good bits about your job?
I really enjoy the fact that I am not based in just a regular office, I work in a site office and this means that it doesn't get boring as you can see things changing every day. Also, being based on site means that I have the opportunity to move around, which keeps things interesting.

What surprised you about the construction industry?
I was surprised by the variety of jobs available in the construction industry. I had never heard of Quantity Surveying before, let alone what it entailed. My whole perception of the industry has changed. Previously, I just used to think of the actual building aspect of it, which I thought just involved men, but now my view is completely different, there are lots more women involved than I expected.
