What do you do day-to-day?
I go down to the site and get instructions from the site manager as to what roofs need doing. We assess the situation, check the scaffolding and make a start on the job. We do everything from garage roofs to commercial work to roofs on £6 million houses!
Good bits about your job?
The projects are good because you get to see the end results, which can be quite amazing. You get great job satisfaction.
Why did you choose this career?
I was thinking of becoming an electrician but at the time there weren't any apprenticeships. I came across roofing, thought it looked interesting then got an apprenticeship. It means I can earn money while I learn, which is great.
