Apprenticeships

Everything you need to know about becoming a construction apprentice

How will my application be assessed?

You will be assessed once you have applied to give you as much chance as the next person to show what you can do.

The assessment will involve a skills learning exercise. This is not about making it difficult to get on to an apprenticeship, but about seeing what you can do in case you need extra support or guidance. It will help CITB-ConstructionSkills see what qualifications and experience you have so your programme can be tailored to meet your needs.

Some apprenticeships also need you to be comfortable with working at height and outside in all weather conditions. You may also need to travel to sites and stay in lodgings whilst working away.

Why not prepare for your assessment by using our practice test website or by downloading our Skills Learning Exercise practice test booklet.

Once you have become an apprentice you will continue to be assessed to see how suitable you are to move onto an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3).
