Piling is a term used to describe the production of deep foundations.
Piling operatives usually start out assisting on anything from
mini piling to large diameter rotary base grouting, or even
monitoring ground conditions.
You'll need to be highly resilient, flexible and prepared to
work anywhere at the drop of a hat. Ideally you'll be the practical
outdoor type, self-sufficient and prepared to travel and work away
from home most of the time.
You must be prepared to learn about all the health and safety
conditions that are implemented on site. There could be huge
repercussions for not only yourself but others around you,
including members of the public, if the whole operation is not
carried out correctly.
There are no formal requirements although it would help to have
GCSE's in English or Welsh and Maths at A*-C.
(Applications from students with the Foundation or Intermediate
Welsh Baccalaureate are also welcomed).
You also need to be at least 18 and many companies like you to
have had some life and work experience after finishing school.
